チャールズ・ダーウィン Charles Darwin (1809 – 1882)

イギリスの地質学者、自然科学者。

ダーウィンが著書『種の起源』の中で説いた進化論(自然選択説=自然淘汰説)は、当時のキリスト教から激しい抵抗を受けたが、後に現代生物学の基盤となった。

著書は、『種の起原(On the Origin of Species)』、『ビーグル号航海記』など。
