アイザック・アシモフ Isaac Asimov (1920 – 92)

ロシア生まれのアメリカ人作家。アーサー・C・クラーク、ロバート・A・ハインラインと並んで世界の三大SF作家として知られる。有名な著書は、『われはロボット』『鋼鉄都市』『ロボットと帝国』『ファウンデーション』など。また推理小説(『黒後家蜘蛛の会』)などSF以外の分野でも高い評価を得ており、著作は合計で500冊以上に及ぶ。

ロボット工学三原則
The Three Laws of Robotics:

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm;

2: ロボットは人間にあたえられた命令に服従しなければならない。ただし、あたえられた命令が、第一条に反する場合は、この限りでない
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law;

3: ロボットは、前掲第一条および第二条に反するおそれのないかぎり、自己をまもらなければならない
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law;
