アメリカの小説家。『トム・ソーヤーの冒険』の著者。
アーネスト・ヘミングウェイは、「あらゆる現代アメリカ文学は、マーク・トウェインの『ハックルベリー・フィン』と呼ばれる一冊に由来する」と述べている。
代表作は、『ハックルベリー・フィンの冒険』『王様と乞食』『アダムとイヴの日記』など。
